3 Lessons Learned from Instagram Experts: An Event Recap

Instagram Workshop Ready

In a noisy digital world, it’s easy to ask yourself how you will stand out. How will you be heard?

We recently hosted an Instagram Workshop for our Creative Souls Nashville Tribe to answer this exact question.

The exposed light bulbs illuminated the room as women from all ages and backgrounds joined to learn how to tackle Instagram with intention and strategy from Instagram experts, Larz May (@livinlikelarz), Helene Sula (@heleneinbetween), and Anne Schowe (@thewhiskeywolf).

Not only did we learn a lot about the social platform, but about marketing in general.

Here are the top 3 tips on how to dominate on Instagram.

  1. Consistency – If you want to grow a steady following and maximize your reach, post on a consistent basis. Just posting at least once a day will show your followers that you are creating good content on the reg. When someone likes your photos or follows you and you click to look at their profile to see they haven’t posted anything in a month, what is your likelihood of following them back? Pretty slim right? Because you want to follow people that inspire and add value to your life on a consistent basis. So post consistently and find unique ways to inspire and add value to the lives of your followers.
  2. Tell a story – This ties in with the theme of your Instagram feed. Your feed should tell a story. It should answer the questions: Who are you? What’s important to you? What is your mission? You can answer these questions with the type of content you post or in your captions. People are more likely to follow you and keep following you if they feel emotionally invested in you. This happens when they feel like they know you based on the content you share. What story does your feed tell? If you don’t know, write down the answers to the three questions above and start there! It’s never too late.
  3. Don’t be afraid to ask – Collaborations. If you are a blogger, business owners, photographer, or what to get your name out there, collaborations are a good way to do that. We covered several different ways to collaborate with small, medium, and large brands. Our biggest take away was to just ask. If there is a company, person, or brand you want to work with, ask them. The answer will always be no if you don’t ask. You might think you have too small of a following, but you never know what could come of it. So give yourself that vote of confidence and ask away!
