You might have jumped out of bed whistlin’ because it’s basically #FRIYAY, but even if it were Monday, we have a lot to be grateful for. How often do we start our day murmuring and complaining? I’m guilty too – whether it’s being annoyed by an early alarm clock, frustrated by a bad hair day or complaining about traffic. But think about this – after months of chemo a woman is celebrating her hair finally fitting into a pony tail, and a Nashville newbie is happily sitting bumper to bumper in rush hour traffic because she followed her dreams. It’s all about perspective.
The things we take for granted, someone else is overjoyed to have!
Sometimes life is tough. It’s not always easy to be thankful. But even in the midst of heartache and struggles, we can, and must, choose gratitude. So I challenge you to take 2 minutes (it’s the day before Thanksgiving – you’re not trying to work anyhow) and make a list of 3 things you’re grateful for!
Here are mine:
- Our Tribe – You have no idea how honored I am to lead you! You guys are killin’ it! I’m so proud of each of you!
- Dry shampoo – Cause let’s be honest, I was up late working per usual. And seriously, who has time to wash their hair these days?
- Coffee shops – Without coffee, I probably wouldn’t get everything done. Coffee shops are a great change of pace from my home office. Plus, they’re full of good vibes for motivation. I even ran into a fellow Triber working on her blog so now we’re both tackling our to-do lists.
I’d love to hear what you’re thankful for, too! We have opportunities every day to not only express gratitude, but to put action behind those words. Let’s make a tangible difference in our community! Let’s become women who smile at strangers, say thank you and hold the door open for the person behind you. It’s the little things that have the biggest impact.
When you wake up in the morning, I want you to ask yourself this question – Did I start my day with thankfulness?
